About Norvik

Norvik dates back to 1962 when BYKO hf  was founded.

The Group has its headquarters in Reykjavik,  Iceland and has two main lines of operations:

  • Retail in Iceland.
  • Timber industries and logistics facilities and services across Europe.

The Group was ranked 15th in terms of turnover of all Icelandic companies in 2010.

In 2010 Norvik had sales of circa 450 million Euros and employed over 3,000 people.

 

Retail in Iceland

BYKO Building Materials:

  • The largest building material and DIY supplier in Iceland.
  • DIY stores, timber yards and equipment rental shops at various locations throughout Iceland.

ELKO home appliance and electrical stores:

  • A market leader in it´s field, running  three stores in and around Reykjavik and one duty free store at Keflavik airport.

INTERSPORT sports equipment stores:

  • Stores in 4 locations.

HUSGAGNAHOLLIN:

  • Furniture store in Reykjavik.

KAUPAS Groceries:

  • 25 stores in and around  Reykjavik
  • Four brand names:  Kronan, Noatun, 11/11 and Kjarval.

  

Norvik Timber Industries

Geographic operations in Latvia, Estonia, Russia, United Kingdom and Sweden.

BYKO-LAT in Valmiera and CED in Cesis, Latvia as well as LAESTI in Parnu, Estonia:

  • Leading producers of sawn and planed timber as well as garden elements, garden furniture and house elements.
  • BYKO-LAT also runs 2 sawmills in Parnu, Estonia, with the brand name LAESTI.

VIKA WOOD in Talsi, Latvia:

  • Largest sawmill in Latvia with an annual production of about 280.000 m3 of sawn Pine and Spruce.

JARL TIMBER in Broakulla, Sweden:

  • Production of sawn and planed Pine and Spruce.

NORWOOD in Syktyvkar, Komi Republic,  Russia:

  • Timber harvesting, sawmilling, trading operations and logistics.

CONTINENTAL WOOD , United Kingdom:

  • Importers of timber and associated  timber products into the UK.
  • Sister company “NORVIK SHIPPING“ owns and operates port and ships‘ agency  facilities and services from Baltic Wharf, Creeksea, as well as shipping and logistic services into, from and around the coast of the UK.
